BENEFITS OF EXERCISE

Let’s start with the obvious:

  • Exercising is good for your heart, it lowers body fat, blood pressure and the risk of diabetes, as well as raising good cholesterol levels and building heart muscle.
  •  Exercising keeps you young, active people tend to suffer less disabilities, stay active for longer and tend to live longer.
  • Exercising is good for your mood, it helps get rid off any stress, anger, frustration, anxiety and other bad negative feelings by releasing endorphins in the brain.

And a few for the ladies:

  • Exercising lowers your risk of breast cancer, it has been scientifically proven that those who do an intense activity like running for at least a few hours a week are less likely to develop breast cancer than those who do not do any physical activity.
  • Exercising ensures a healthier pregnancy and birth. Women who exercise during pregnancy have higher energy levels and better sleep patterns, less constipation and indigestion. Research shows women who exercise tend to have higher-birth-weight babies than those who don’t. However, pregnancy is not the time to take up any vigorous or intense exercise for the first time!
  • Exercising helps you through your hormonal ups and downs, it has been proven that women who run at least 12 miles per week report less symptoms such as breast tenderness or bloating. It also helps reduce stress, anxiety and depression in post-menopausal women.
